LSRS Director at the Heart of Theological Exchange in Lublin
Jean Ehret brings together reflection on theological wisdom, teaching, and European cooperation at the Catholic University of Lublin.
At the invitation of Professor Mirosław Kalinowski, Rector of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, Professor Jean Ehret, Director of the Luxembourg School of Religion & Society (LSRS) and Vice-President of the European Society for Catholic Theology (ESCT), attended the inauguration of the new academic year, which included a solemn Mass presided over by Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça.
Welcomed by Professors Przemysław Kantyka, Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Wiesław Przygoda, Director of the Institute of Theology, and Grzegorz Chojnacki, Professor Ehret had the honour of delivering a lecture to faculty members on the relationship between scientific rationality, theological wisdom, and pastoral practice.
He also taught classes for undergraduate and doctoral students. With the former, he explored the limitations of defining trustworthiness in terms of ability, benevolence, and integrity, highlighting potential theological contributions to trust studies. With doctoral students, he examined the unity of knowledge and the theology of wisdom, engaging with the thought of Pope Leo XIV.
During a meeting of the Polish section of the ESCT, organised by Professor Wojciech Surmiak, he presented the European Congress of Theology, to be held in Luxembourg in 2027, emphasising the importance of ensuring that theologians from Central and Eastern Europe actively contribute to the dialogue and shape the future of European theology.
