Publications The Ampersand

The Ampersand is the publication series of the Luxembourg School of Religion & Society (LSRS). We publish these booklets to share the reflections and intellectual life of the LSRS with a wider audience, to present information on complex topics in an accessible way, to stimulate reflection and discussion, and to change attitudes and actions. The form of the ampersand is reminiscent of the Möbius strip; it symbolizes the continu-ous exchange between religion and society on the one hand, and between representatives of different disciplines, world views, and religions on the other. The LSRS contributes to learning processes through this type of dialogue, which aims to generate new knowledge as well as new encounters and cohesion. In this way, the LSRS com-plements the research and teaching, which is sometimes highly specialized and carried out in university faculties. The LSRS is a place where the knowledge silos of specialists and the con-fessionalism of theological faculties find a common international and interdisciplinary platform and space for discussion. It is a place for new perspectives to emerge from the synthesis of the individual and the whole. As an affiliated institute of the University of Bonn, the LSRS “complements the scientific spectrum of the university with its expertise” in an original way.
